Just noticed that one can create a new Repository View entity by selecting either the Deployment Components or Repository Components option. Is this intentional? The Deployment Definition only exists in the Deployment Components option.

IIRC yes it is intentional, the reason being that it can be useful in more areas than just deployment, though historically it has been limited to that. There's at least one other as-yet-unreleased tool that uses them.
