OI 8.0.3 - We switch between companies via a ATTACH/DETACH_TABLE using volume names. ATTACH_TABLE works fine with either drive letters or UNC.

We've recently started to use \\UNC, and it appears that the DETACH_TABLE of a UNC path does not function.

Are we not doing it correctly, or is this an undocumented feature.

TIA

Martin - \\UNC does not appear to work in OI reliably at this time - we started using UNC originally (OI v7.1 and Network drivers v2.1 and v3.0) - but due to so many problems, we have to revert back to using physical mapped drives. Other symptoms will include problems in the DM manager, attach_table not executing as expected, issues with alias_table and corruption in the .dbt file.

once using physical drive assignments - even the DEP issues seem to have disappear.

but this is different for each topology of a site's network and its current flavor - to help me better understand and locate the actual root cause - I drew a schema for our network - mapping out the physical and network layers and then determine what happens after laying down the presentation and then application layers (applied a network sniffer). that is when I noticed the problems occurring.

I have seen \\UNC working in a limited fashion on a couple of networks without issue (at least for now).

Does this also fix the bug in detach_volume (from 7.xx and up) where the volume doesn't really get dropped, but all the tables are gone? it leaves a "blank" table entry visible in DM, but doesn't drop the volume from the attached list. I've seen in at several locations, all w/ UD3 (haven't tested the UD4 locations) and once or twice here on a standalone workstation.

Tested this with UD4 and do not see any issues.
