After I updated from OI 7.2.2 to OI 7.3, my help, in the Application Manager is greyed out. I still have help in form designer and editor, etc. Just Application Manager. Any Ideas?

Oops. We had commented it out because of a Linux change we made. It's back in 8.0, I'll see if we can get the 7.3 upgraded without any issues.
Worse yet, it's my fault! I forgot we had done it, and pushed it out anyway. Grrr.

Mike,
And speaking of Linux changes….
Will OI 8.0 resolve the OIL incompatibility with Fedora 5 and later?
Here's hoping,

Hi Gerald
OIL is currently compiled using MAINWIN4 libraries. We need to recompile with Mainwin 5, expect that to solve the issue. The plan is to work on OIL after 8.0 settles down, probably June.

Bob,
Your comment about MAINWIN libraries is exactly as I expected. We are putting out scads of Linux Fedora 5 (and soon, Fedora 7) servers with terminals. Getting OIL to work would be a very nice thing.
Thanks,
Gerald

Configuring the MainWin 4 compile was quite an adventure. I suspect setting up MainWin 5 will be exciting too. The good news is that the Mainwin 5 datasheet promises a much higher level of support for OLE than the current version.

Well, that would obviously draw our attention! I realize this discussion is all very early in the game so I don't expect you to have answers to some of my questions. However, as you come across the answers I would like to know the following:
1. Even if MainWin 5 adds sufficient support for OLE, will Revelation seek to implement this support into OIL?
2. Will this support OLE in general (i.e. the Basic+ COM support) or will it also support ActiveX?
3. If ActiveX is supported, will .OCX files be able to run unmodified or will they also have to be recompiled with the MainWin 5 libraries?
Thanks,

I may have jumped the gun. In the last version, OLE support was a very expensive add on to the license. I just reviewed the 5.0 datasheet while researching Gerald's issue, was surprised by all that MainWin promised.
If the prohibitive cost is still imposed then we will not add the support to the base product.

Correction. It was ODBC that was so expensive. OLE was something you had to compile in your self, one dll at a time. This version indeed looks much better than the old. However, I have not looked at the licensing on OLE support yet, so the price issue may still crop up.
