Revelation, as I can't find the extranets section I'll post this here.

Question. Why is it that when I log in to this web site the login screen seems to refresh half way through typing in my user name (clearing the field). Then I have to type it in again.

Regards

Paul

Because you have got such a short name. With me it's more like 25%…

Yes, I'm annoyed too.

Yes, I have to admit that I don't check the forums as often as I used to because of this. Used to just be able to click an OK button with my name and password defaulted.

M@,

I've learned to wait until the page calms down and it's safe to begin typing in the Username field. I think it's safe when the caret appears.

I usually check the forums more than once each day, but not often enough to keep the connection alive. Having to log in more than once each day is an annoyance, with our without waiting for fancy page stuff to finish. I hope some smart-aleck comes up with a way to keep the connection from timing out.

Paul,

I had seen the problem you are describing before we moved the website back here (it was hosted elsewhere during testing), but have not seen it since. It must be, like Oystein suggested, due to the way the page is loaded. I'll see if somehting can be done about that.

Regarding Oystein's other mentions - The persistant connection is now three hours, and the autofill (so you do not even need to type in your username and password) is in place. Check the settings on your browser. If you do have the autocomplete set correctly, then the first point is probably moot!

FWIW, our office uses iRider as a default browser. In addition to the very cool way it allows us to open multiple web pages it also allows us to set a refresh timer for any given page. Therefore, I generally have six discussion pages open at the same time and set a refresh for every 5 minutes. This keeps my connection alive so I don't have to re-enter my username and password.
