While starting inet_trace I recieve msg OECGI RevCreateEngine failed Error 3, what have I done wrong.

I Have put the 3 dlls together with the OECGI in the script directory and access rights are "everyone". We have been using the OICGI together with OI 4.03 for 6 months without any problem. But after the upgrade to 4.13 the above problem occurred.

Bertil,

Have you checked this thread? Don't know if it contains the answer. But the subject looks promising.

Have you added the new registry settings?

Hank,

I followed the instructions in the PDF file regarding registry settings.

Oystein,

The thread was good and covered my problem, though not solved yet. I also recieved then message OECGI SetCurrentDirectory Failure. But I'm not happy with using then IIS server as a file server for our OI apps.

For a joke, create a user called SYSPROG in you app and use that username in your registry settings. I've had similar problems and for some reasons, can't get anyone but sysprog to work with the OECGI.

Bertil,

The "OECGI SetCurrentDirectory Failure" message normally occurs when the WorkingDirectory in the Registry Settings is not set to the location of the OEngine.exe that is being accessed via the web.

Tried that to, but still the same problem. While changing working directory in the win register to a virtual directory pointing to our OI server I recieved error FS1006, unable to access LH files a bit further I think, but still a problem.

This post does in fact apply to your problem.

I've got everything working on a Windows 2000 Professional. Still have some problems on the server (Win 2000 server). Gonna try more with the tips in the Microsoft article that you posted. If this would not help i'll make a post.

Still some difficulties with the OECGI

We have been trying to get the web to work using OpenInsight 4.13 and the OECGI, and we do get replies to our requests now. It seems, however, that we no longer need to have the Internet Gateway running for the OECGI to respond to requests. Is this the way it was ment to be? And can the requests still be controlled via Inet_Security?

Also, we wish to run several engines who are dedicated to web requests, where each engine has different datatables attached (the tables have the same name, but contain data for different regions, and are located in different folders). Are we correct to believe that we need one engine to accept all internet requests, and then delegate the work to the other engines with unique table attachments (that is, is it possible to access five different engines from the web - it didn't seem like it with the registry settings and all…)? Has anyone done a similar thing successfully?

Anyone got an idea?

Ira is working on overhalling documenting web publishing Inet_* etc. Would seem that there are a number of ways of using OI - what works best is in part dependant on context and skills. What is evident is that we are all would value a collation of substantive examples and info. This is all about learning how to leverage the brilliant resources we already have (in OI) in the internet world.

You mught like to check out the use of php (doesnt require oecgi).

I understand the Internet_Gateway was required only with Oicgi.

We have a product called zzCGI which is just exiting beta testing. As we posted in March

The Sprezzatura Group are actively seeking beta testers for a new product zzCGI. The product allows multiple OECGIs to be launched in different accounts/usernames on the same Web Server thus allowing users of the different applications to use the same Web Server..

Please mail us for more details.
