Would it be possible to enhance the forum with the following :

1) the "create new topic' appears to be at the bottom of the page. At the top of the page would be nice

2) Embedded Images. Having to put links it and storing images elsewhere is not as handy. O4W will handle this wont it?

3) Edit a post

4) Add Views to the display so you can see if your post (or any post) is being looked at

5) Preview mode … allow seeing if the post is formatted the way you want it (boy editing would have been handy :) )

6) CODE section. At times displaying code gets funny formatting or things get stripped out. A code section in forums allows display of *text* just as it is.

The little green tick is the "Preview" as the tooltip help cunningly reveals

   The code tags

      Theoretically let you embed spaces etc

As to "embedded images" - as far as I can tell, most bulletin board systems don't allow you 'embed' anything as a security measure - in fact, this is why we use "BBCode" instead of straight HTML for the submitted posts.

Instead, you can specify a URL for an image, and that's what BBCode (used in this forum) (and, behind the scenes, O4W) allow. I know it's more inconvenient, but there is a reason for it…

As for "code" - we already have a "code" feature, and it's activated by pressing the 3rd button from the right hand side (the one that looks like a scroll with <> on it). When activated, you should see two tags, one that says "code" and the other that says "/code", and you should be able to put whatever you like between them:

This is some text in the code tag

and it continues over multiple lines

Is this what you are looking for?

And as for editing - I think that you can edit your post if you call it back up again within 24 hours. There should be an 'edit' button at the bottom. Or is that just me?

Yep .. as noted too many pretty icons and not enough TEXT ;)

A funny thing happen along the way to answering this. I press reply and got a 'login' screen. I did that and then replied. It actually created a new thread (rti can look at the logs probably and see that i was there). Not sure how that happened but not any weirder than any of the other things I am having happen.

There doesn't seem to be an EDIT button, icon or text anywhere. But i do like the DELETE button.

I can find no way to spellcheck text here. Heck even the firefox spellcheck doesn't work in the editbox. I have checked all the little icons and none seem to be for spellchecking

ifn I try to enter text that isn't spelld correctly, in firefox at least, it gets a little red squigly line underneath it. In fact, in this reply, I get the squiglly line under "spellcheck", "firefox", "editbox", "spellchecking", "ifn", "spelld", and "squigly". Oh, and "Shumsky" too.

If you right-click on the red-squigly words, you'll get a list of suggested replacements. Ironically enough, right-clicking on "Shumsky" gets the suggestion "Husky" :smile:

First 2 are recaps ..

1) Move/Dup "Create new mail topic" to top .. why scroll down?

2) Edit; still dont find a EDIT option. Created post, went back to it and there was no edit function. Only Delete

3) User Preferences; In "User Preferences" you can change a couple things but

a) Username; when my 'user' was created many years ago the username is 'dsigafoos'.  I would like DSig to be displayed.  Why not have a "dsiplay" name?

b) Signature; it would be very nice to have "signature" in the user preferences which gets added to each post.  This would allow users to have environment or Business or ...  I would make this additive to the post data instead of sticking it on each post when viewed like many forums do.

4) Speed; quite often the speed of the board is very slow. Is this because of still using Lotus Server backend (domino) or .. O4W? If Domino is the culprit shouldn't the data get ported over to something else to show off the speed of O4W

5) When I brough this topic up at the bottom of the page was the DELETE. Since this topic thread is weeks old, should this have been allowed? Did it show this because I had added a post earlier this morning?
