For OI Vers 7.2X and also 8.0X Oinsight.exe doesnt clear from memory when the app is closed.

It doesnt seem to matter runtime or development.

Version 7.01 and prior seems to close ok

Example

Run oinsight.exe, dont log in just exit again

or

log in as sysprog and log off again.

If you open task manager oinsight.exe stays running as a process.

Has anyone else seen this?

Running Vista Business.

Just noted Richard already logged this as an issue in Bug Tracker

ID=770

BUT it happens using Network driver 2.1 as well.

You need to obtain the latest RCL.DLL file.

This seems to resolve this.

One of those tightly kept secrets from Revelation that they dont seem to want the general developer to know about that resolve user issues. I am sure it not intentional, but should be more predominant somewhere.

Gerry,

Just to clarify on the RCL4 - latest OI builds ship RCL4.dll as 557kb v 334kb (old). This is meant to resolve DEP issues amongst other things - but Microsoft keeps moving the goal posts.

FWW I still have problems in Vista with OI persisting in memory after close. Ususally not an issue and would never be aware unless repeated log-in.

But see also Jim Vaughn's comments elseware in this forum.

Colin-

Why in the world would we want to keep something like this a secret?

I can just see us in a dark, smoke filled conference room…

"See, if we don't tell our customers about this fix they'll get fed up with the software and switch to Microsoft or Oracle. At last, our plan is working!"

Geez. Is someone getting a little paranoid?

We'll try make sure that when someone searches on DEP or OI stuck in memory that the RCL4.dll answer.

I did state that I dont think it was intentional… as I am sure it is not.

I did not know about it (despite searches), David Goddard from Revelation Aus did not know about it, and was pleased to find out from me so he could resolve issues that his customers had. We had a meeting with Martyn Phillips from RevSoft UK, and he did not know about it, and called the office to find the solution.

The problem is NOT with you hiding stuff… it just seems that way.

Things are very hard to find. I really think consideration of the web site might be a start. NOTE: constructive comment!!!

More than happy to offer any positive suggestions that you are willing to consider.
