Several compatiblity issues have arisen over the past several months.

A user running Quarterdeck's QEMM memory manager and Novell's EMSNET4 network shell reported sporadic Memory Exception errors. The problem appears to be in the EMSNET4 driver, and can be resolved by using the NET4 or XMSNET4 network driver.

The same problem exists with the EMSNET3 network shell. The solution is the same as well.

Technical Bulletin #60 reported a problem with PDISK on PC-MOS systems. According to The Software Link, publishers of PC-MOS, the problem has been resolved in Release 4.1. We have not yet tested the fix.

Numerous users have reported problems with this release. Most problems appear to be lock table related. The problems are sporadic and result in one or more hung machines.

The problems reportedly occur on DOS workstations using the DOS LAN Requester provided with Lanserver 1.2. It has been reported that the problems do not occur if the DOS workstations use PC LAN 1.3 instead of the DOS LAN Requester.

Our testing of Version 3.0 of NetWare 386 has uncovered no problems. However, several sites have reported problems with data corruption on this version.

One site reports running Version 3.1 with no difficulty.

A developer using 386/MultiWare reports that he gets intermittent, but frequent, Group Format Errors (GFEs) with this product. Switching to the Advanced NetWare Driver reduced, but did not eliminate, the GFE problem.

Alloy, makers of 386/MultiWare, have said that they will be testing Advanced Revelation on their network, but they did not say when.

A user has reported problems executing the TCL command SUSPEND using the 43 and 50 line modes in Advanced Revelation and the extensions provided by the video card. Turning off the extensions resolves the problem.

We have one report from the field of the Intel 287XL coprocessor hanging a machine running Advanced Revelation.

Intel acknowleges that the chip can hang applications. However, in-house testing has uncovered no problems in using the chip with Advanced Revelation.

Some users have reported problems printing on shared printers under Lantastic version 2.57. According to Artisoft, publishers of Lantastic, these problems are resolved by Lantastic version 3.0.
