I was helping a developer set up and get the environment right for playing with O4W. I proceeded to set up IIS on PC with virual path to O4W components, enable OECGI3 permissions etc, do the Registry settings, install java x32 and fire up fire up in the socketserver debugger script. Get the Start.htm screen; then Login - get the login screen (see engine(s) spinning up) and confidently enter username password, hit the submit button and - blank screen. Darn. Is it something wrong in IIS, rights to virtual director, firewall, bad OI system? I hadnt sorted out full interpretation of the debug script but all seemed OK. Back to office to play around. Test on fresh system - works great out-of-the-box. Play around further. Back to the developer with the fresh - working system. We start off again to run-up O4W and - Darn! same roadblock - engines spin up but blank screen after Login. Think: what's different. Ah...no internet; just maybe the web pages - the headers and or inserts - need to reference material on internet. Retreat, tail between legs back to office to test. Fire up with internet and bravo - works like a treat. I know someone will point out that I'm stupid - didnt read the guides properly and overlooked crucial instructions. Is there any way for the start.htm or subsequent Login to test and alert dummys like me; is there a configuration work-around or is the observed behaviour an artifact of how I configured the environmment? Any constructive comments that might aleviate my embarasement are welcome. Richard Bright ---- === At 14 NOV 2011 12:52AM bshumsky wrote: === Hi, Richard. There's nothing to be embarrassed about; there are a lot of pieces that have to fit together "just right" when setting up O4W. Hopefully, once you've got all the pieces in place, it runs smoothly... In theory, O4W can be configured to run in an environment where there is no internet access (so long as you don't want to run with the Google Visualization graphs, that is). The trick is that, of course, if your O4W is set up to use internet access, and you don't have internet access, how can you get into O4W to change it to be in non-internet mode? The simplest work around, I've found, is to copy the record CFG_O4W_BACKUP over the normal CFG_O4W in the O4WCONFIG table. Alternatively, you can fire up the OI-based O4W configuration form RTI_O4W_CFG (you can EXEC RTI_O4W_CFG from System Monitor, for example), and choose "offline" in the scripts there.
