7.2 (but also 7.1) XP

I have seen postings before but never say any good answers.

only on 1 machine .. client starts oi .. closes out then checks task manager and it is there.

The system is using SRP's Frameworks .. the only reason i mention this is .. is it possible that an OCX isn't closing nicely?

Everything else appears to work correctly.

This is on a laptop is a Aberatec (c3500). Running windows xp PRO tablet edition ..

any ideas??

I have the same problem on a tablet pc also (XP Pro tablet edition) but not on a desktop running XP Pro.

This has been happening since OI 7.0.

It does not seem to affect performance, but is a nuisance when the machine is shutting down.

By coincidence I stumbled across the taskkill command today. Not a solution for you problem, but nice to know about.

Just wanted to jump in here and give my two cents…

I also have a customer who is having similar problems with Oinsight.exe not ending… They are on a Novell network and some of their stations have the problem while others do not. We originally thought it was version specific with regard to the Novell Client but tests have proved us wrong. On an XP station that was not having the problem we upgraded the client to the latest version. It started having the problem so we downgraded and now the problem persists.

The only other thing is they have a combination of Norton Internet Security and McAfee… Both of which I do not personally like. We always have recommended Trend Micro and have had very good luck with them and application compatibility. We also have not had this problem with our in-house system.

Dave,

Able to duplicate on a XP Pro Tablet, OI 7.2. SRP's Frameworks is not installed, and I removed all virus protection. I will add to the Bug Tracker if it is not there already.

While we were sure that our OCX wasn't causing this problem, there are some known issues getting OpenInsight 7.2 to work correctly with our OLE controls (which also affects our OLE based utilities).

We are putting the finishing touches on our OLE controls and related utilities. Revelation have given us permission to post when we are ready to release. Our goal is to do this by the end of the week. If you need something before then, please send me a direct email with the product you are using and I will arrange to provide you with a way to get an advanced download.

Thank you,
