Unexplained GFE'S??

Environment: Novell 4.11 NLM 1.12 Arev3.12 Win95 & Win3.11

Problem: Application error due to GFE's in a table.

Solution: Created new file in Arev, copied, via DOS,the OV and LK files

of the file withnthe GFE to th OV and LK of the newly created file.

New file OK with NO Gfe's and all records.

Old file still with GFE's.

Renamed old file to Copy something and renamed new file to the correct name, users then allowed back in and everything OK.

Original file still had GFE's.

Later that day (4 hrs) I set out to show someone what a GFE looked like and HEY PRESTO it had gone!!!.

Somehow AREV in the intervening time sorted out the GFE!!

Has anyone seen this ,and if so do they know why.

Or has anyone an idea what is happening.

This has happened before but I was not convinced I had not screwd the names of my files up and was looking at the wrong on.

I thinK I have found my problem.

We had a major system crash in Nov last year, which needed a complete system rebuild and restore.

However it appears that the Dos partition on the Novell server which holds the STARTUP NCF was not restore correctly.

The TURBODIS.NLM was not put back into the STARTUP.NCF this would account for my GFE's, well I hpoe so.

Thanks to anyone who tried to help.
