I've just downloaded VIP/DX from your Web site and installed it on a Windows95 PC with a Oracle 32bit ODBC driver(version 2.00.03.01), which I have tested and works.

When I run VIP/DX and load the DX utility (dxeval.vsl is this right ?)

everything is fine. But when I Add a datasource and specify the Oracle ODBC driver it prompts me with a user ID and password. When I put the password in and press enter VIP/DX hangs(DX not responding).

Hello Kin,

I am able to succesfully connect to a 32 Oracle database in ViP/DX 2.5.

I have the Oracle Client Software Release 7.3.3 installed on my machine and the Oracle ODBC Driver I am using is V2.0.3.1.1.

After the Oracle Software was installed I configured the SQL*Net Connection, by modifying the Database Alias (Example1). Then I chose TCP/IP as the network protocol, Example1 as the Database Alias, Test_Web as the TCP/IP Host Name, and ORCL as the Database Instance.

Finally, I launched the 32 bit ODBC Administrator and added a DSN. I specified ORACLE73 as the Data Source Name, and Example1 as the SQL*Net ConnectString.

These are the steps that allowed me to successfully connect to Oracle data from ViP/DX 2.5., it may be beneficial for you to create a new DSN connection using the above steps.

Hope this helps,
