Attaching OI to Arev tables (OpenInsight Specific)

Sysop;
I attended the conference in Santa Clara and would like to install and test the evaluation copy of OI distributed there.
On my workstation I have shortcuts to two copies of our Arev application, one of which is the test area where we do our development work and then the 'real' area where users enter and access data, run programs etc. These applications are running on a Netware 4.12 server, with the NLM.
My concern is that on the conference CD it states that you should only use OI to access a local copy of your database because only byte range locking is supplied. We have the NLM on the Novell server and I believe that that eliminates (or at least substantially reduces) the risk of damage to indexes or tables, but again I'd rather ask now than clean up a mess later.
What I'd like to do is access our test Arev database on the Novell server with the sample copy of OI, and what I'd like to know is if there is any risk of index or file corruption from doing so as stated on the conference CD. I also would like to know if I should install OI on the server if I can just run it from my workstation and access the tables that way.
Current network;
Test area is Arev 3.12
Real area is Arev 3.1 (soon to be 3.12)
Both Arev applications are running on a Novell 4.12 server with the NLM
My workstation is a P133, W95 with 32 mg RAM.
Thanks in advance for your help or direction to the relevant documentation.

I don't believe OI was distributed there, just the jLH client/server. If you want to try an evaluation copy of OI you can download it from this website.
As for accessing your AREV data, you can use OI safely but you'll need to install the driver that works with the NLM. You can install OI locally or on the network, but either way you'll only have a single user access.

Thanks Don;
I believe that answered my question, that there is a risk of index (or other) corruption. It states on the CD "The only network driver available with this evaluation copy is the Byte-Range Locking Driver."
I can probably get away with it since it's our test area I'm accessing and there are only two of us who use it for developing. If we coordinate and only one of us access it at a time with OI we should be OK.
Since we're curious about performance running it on the server it sounds like that's where we should set it up.
Thanks again;

David,
One other thing … the OI 3.61 eval will be available shortly if you want to see the latest OI. For more information on OI, call our customer service group at (800)262-4747 or your sales rep (probably Gary at (617)252-7108).
