What are the benefits of using UD4.5 on a machine where OI and all the LH files reside and, there is no other OI access to the LH files?

This would be a web server environment.

The advantage to using the Universal Driver on a web server is similar to the reason why it is important in a traditional network environment. On a busy web server the OESocket service can launch multiple (and separate) oengine processes to handle incoming requests. As the number of simultaneous requests increase so does the number of oengine processes. In essence each engine is a separate client to the linear hash data.

In a normal client/server scenario the Universal Driver is key because it not only coordinates record locking and access but also deals with physical network errors and transfers.

On a web server the network issues are minimized because the engine is local to the data files but the Universal Driver is still important because it coordinates record locking and access between the separate oengine processes accessing the data.
