I am in the process of moving an Arev32 application to a new server running 2008R2 from an old server running 2003.

The only difference in environment that I am aware of is UD NULL on 2008R2 vs. the UD 4.5 on the 2003 server due to existing Arev 2.12 production system that Arev32 will be replacing.

In the Arev32 application on server 2008R2, the variables displayed in debugger are scrambled but appear normally in the 2003 version.

In the Arev32 application on server 2008R2 using PAINT on Windows 7 clients show squares rather then the normal 'houses' for the fields.

XP clients show the normal 'houses' in PAINT.

The problems are probably caused by some differences in environment settings, but I can't seem to find the items to fix the problems.

All suggestions appreciated!

John, I've been told by our Arev 32 expert that it's normal for Windows 7 to display special characters poorly. If you reduce the resolution of the window it will appear better. It's related to the scaling of the fonts.

Is the problem you're seeing related to the screen size of your client window?

In Arev32 I bring up a menu that has multiple menu items. In ArevDOS those show as triangles. In Arev32, if you see ovals then grab the lower-right corner and change the proportions of the Arev32 screen until you see triangles.

Then all the characters look much better.
