We setup a dedicated Indexer using Set_Bgnd_IX_Time.

When we login as our "indexer" we see OpenEngine (for indexing) running. However, when we exit our MDI frame, the OpenEngine stays running.

When we try to close it, we get some message that it can't be closed when it's updating indexes (or something like that), but it's not doing anything.

Question: How do we stop OE for Indexing from running when we exit the MDI Frame other than going to the Tast Manager? Does this have anything to do with multiple engines in OI now?

Thanks,

Ray

In the CLOSE event, call Set_Bgnd_Ix_Time(0) to shut down indexing.

Then Set_IdxSvr(0) to set the engine back to the stardard interface.

If this is a remote engine, send the appropriate shutdown commands.

If this is not enough, then do a Utility('SYSTEM','DESTROY').

Mr. Sprezz,

Thanks for your response. I shall give that a try. This was starting to really bug me .

Maybe I was more "clueless" before, but is the persistent nature of this OE for indexing "new" (e.g., 4.1, 4.12, or 4.13), where closing the MDI frame in runtime does no automatically kill the OE for indexing or was this ALWAYS its behavior?
