I tried to upgrade my working copy of OI 3.7.2r4 to the final release, but all I get is this message :

"The Installation of OpenInsight in the specific directory can not be upgraded using this license"

I now Barry Stevens algo got this message (posted 10-25-1999) and tried to fix it the way he did, but it did not work. I also tried to upgrade a clean copy of OI 3.7 but result is the same.

What else has to be done?

Thanks in advance.

Ilde,

I've seen this before and it usually happens with multiple copies of OpenInsight (back-ups, etc.) on the same drive. Try isolating the copy of OpenInsight to another drive by itself, or better, another computer and then trying the upgrade.

Stephen,

I installed my working copy in another machine as you told me, and I could finally upgrade to v3.7.2, but now a problem remains. My indexes are not being updated by the system, and their behaviour is very unpredictable. I tried to copy the dict info into the sysupgrades table by issuing the command

RUN COPY_ROW 'DICT.CUSTOMERS', 'NEXT_CALL', 'SYSUPGRADES',

'DICT.CUSTOMERS/NEXT_CALL'

And I get next message:

FS401: The "SYSUPGRADES" table has not been created or attached.

I tried to find sysupgrades myself, and it seems to be missing.

How can I recover/create this table?

By the way, what dict parameters need to be copied into sysupgrades (once the table is available) regarding relational indexes? Source or destiny table and columns?

Thanks a lot.

Ilde.

Ilde,

I thought we were talking about upgrading the version of OpenInsight here. We were right?

Could you please clarify what you are doing here, as I am now confused. As in, are you deploying from 3.7 (or 3.72) then upgrading the run-time version of OI or upgrading the application, before or after deploying, etc.? Or both?

Stephen,

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I'll try to clarify.

1.- I was just trying to upgrade Openinsight 3.7.2r4 to final version of OI 3.7.2; In fact I could do it after a few trials.

2.- I'm still not deploying anything.

3.- The problem is:

Indexes for my upgraded application (now ver.3.7.2)are not being updated automatically by the system, I have to rebuild them myself whenever I add new records to the database.

Question is, what do I have to do to correct this situation?

Best regards,

Ilde.

Ilde,

I see. Perhaps you should try rebuilding your system indexes and re-synching the database. If that doens't help you may be best off installing a fresh version of OpenInsight 3.7 and upgrading it to 3.72 (the final, non-test release). Then do an APPBACKUP restore of your application into the new system.
