I have a client that has a weird intermittent problem.

Their OI Screen is only partially "painted", and when you move the cursor, details of the screen show in the areas that the cursor has moved over. OI is basically frozen. You can bring up/down MSWord and Excel screens OK. Reboot fixes for a few days. PC is not turned off overnight.

Of cause the engineer says it must be a "Program fault", of which I know it is not, but I don't know how to convince him.

Is OI like Arev, where it will show up any PC faults.

Has anyone seen this before and are able to identify where the problem is.

The fact that it happens more when the PC is left on might indicate that it is resource related (or lack of resources).

I have a screen that uses line drawing DLL calls, and this exhibits a similar problem, when the screen is displayed, any screen that moves over my drawn lines erases them. I know it is not the same as your problem, but it does show that windows has to know that the screen and data on it exists to draw it.

I would suggest that once the problem occurs, and before turning off, try changing some of the windows effect settings (desktop properties appearance tab), such as resize when dragging, and seeing if it changes its behaviour.

Barry,

Is this a 7.2.1 system? OI prior to 7.2.1 had redraw issues.
